Baby ferrets are very nippy, anyone got any advice b4 i get them new homes?
did you purchase them from a pet store or shelter?

If you bought them from a shelter it's possible they were abused by their previous owners. They probably are just scared of people because of that, just try to give them lots of attention and love, if necessary wear gloves when handling them.

Also, most baby ferrets (kits) are nippy, it's how they play, they just need to be taught to not nip hard, but they will always use their mouths for playing.

Whenever they bite say ';NO'; very firmly and scruff them. You can also try bitter apple. Also, when they nip/bite make a loud high pitch squeal so they know that they hurt you.

If they were purchased from a pet store, they probably weren't handled and not well taken care of. Just do the same things i mentioned above.

Please don't re-home them, as the saying goes ';Rome was not built in one day';. It just takes time and patience, it took me months to train one of my ferrets not to nip, and now she is very gentle and loving, I've even successfully taught her to roll over.

Good luck, hope I helped!Baby ferrets are very nippy, anyone got any advice b4 i get them new homes?
This will take about 2 weeks, but it works. Mix together a mixture of egg and cream (not milk, but real cream). Take them out one at a time. Then, with the bowl out of their reach, dip your fingers in it %26amp; let them lick it off. When they start to bite your finger, say ';no'; and just LIGHTLY, flick them on the nose. Do that again and again for about 15 minutes or so. Do that 2 to 3 times per day for each, for 2 weeks. By the end of that time, you will have ferrets that give you kisses.
Try vinigar on you hands or apple sider,, scruff them or give them time outs in a cat carryer.

If you decide to find them new homes please contact me as i adopt and rehome ferrets and would be happy to take them off your hands.

:]

im in sydney just email me if you decide too,, but yeah

a loud NO! scruff then time out.

keep doing it and they should learn.

it will take time tho

you will need to be patient. try to play with them every day and reward the good behavior with treats they like. when they bite, or nip...say no and put them in the cage, then wait and pick them back up
