Where is the best place to get career advice?

Hello, I have started my first 'proper' job it is a contract for 1 year and I have 6 months to go.

The problem is I don't know where to go from here, do I just ask agencies or is there a website I can post my CV onto?

I would like to move onto a better career.

Thank youWhere is the best place to get career advice?
If you're in the UK your local job centre is a good place. You don't have to be unemployed, just go in and they have these databases that anyone can use, and they're really easy. You type in what areas you want to work in, what type of work, how mny hours etc. and then it brings you up a list f all the jobs available.

Connexions is another organisation that offers careers advice in local areas. Ask in your local library.

You can join job agencies, but sometimes they're only for temporary positions. Which agency you use depends on what type of work you want. Search on the internet for different agencies.Where is the best place to get career advice?
i would say the jobcentre.. put they are not very helpful at all!!!

Either look up online on careers and see if anything takes your fancy..

try www.learndirect.co.uk there is careers information on there, the qualifications you will need for the job, and they will also tell you how and where you can study for them.

Connexions will offer you an advisor to talk to.. but if you are over the age of 19 they will probably charge you for it unfortunately.

work experience is the best experience you can have nowadays, when you are coming to the end of your placement.. start looking for other jobs which interest you and try to line up something else
