Can I get some advice for meditating?

Whenever I try to meditate, I fall asleep. Either that or I just get frustrated and give up. I've also tried the relaxing position in Yoga where i guess you lay down and relax every muscle starting with your face and working down to your toes. That has also put me to sleep. Can anyone help? I really need to learn, because I think negatively too much, and I need to learn not to. Please Help? Can I get some advice for meditating?
What is it you want to accomplish? There are many forms of meditation.

Try doing your meditation in a sitting position, either in a chair with both feet on the floor and your palms turned face up in your lap, or cross legged on the floor, with your palms face up on your knees.

Breath in to the count of 7, hold 1 sec, breath out for the count of 7. Do this until you start to feel relaxed and let go of all your worries. Picture negative energy going out of your body with each breath out, and positive white light going into your body with each breath in.

Now for what you want to accomplish with your meditation?

If you want to change your life, you change your subconscious. Meditate at the end of the day. Go thru your day and the events that happened. Is there anything you are not happy with? Erase the event in your mind, do this several times, then re-create the event the way you WISHED it would have happened. See yourself reacting, saying, doing, what you wish you had done. By doing a daily review, you will program your mind to act differently if the situation ever comes up again. You should do this nightly for 30 days to start, and you will begin to feel more confident and positive.

Good luck! Can I get some advice for meditating?
Meditation is simply learning to live in the moment, when nothing distracts you and when you are not tied to the past or anxious about the future. In meditation you become peacefully aware of your real self. The more you use it, the more aware you become. When you learn to live life for each moment, to enjoy and appreciate life to the fullest at that moment, you suddenly become impervious to the myraid of doubts and fears that you've lived with all your life.

While there are many folks that seem to believe their particular mantra has ';magical power';, it really is the mindfulness that matters. The mantra is just one of the vehicles you can use to get there.

I developed a simple nonsectarian practice, but my background is in Buddhism - specifically Jodo Shinshu (aka Shin) Buddhism, Nichiren Buddhism, and the nonsectarian teachings of the Bright Dawn Institute (aka Kubose Dharma Legacy).

Here is the simple, yet potent, meditation technique that I use with some recommended resources as well. Specific posture does not matter. If you are uncomfortable sitting on the floor, you can sit on a chair with feet flat on the floor.

Since I have medical issues, I do a simple form of secular mindfulness meditation to relieve stress and anxiety. This helps to reduce high blood pressure and the frequency of headaches. It is a practice recommended by my primary licensed physician and is not encumbered by any superstitious nonsense.

I have actually studied a wide variety of religions and paths. Being more musically inclined, I was initially attracted to the practices of Jodo Shinshu (aka Shin Buddhism) and Nichiren Buddhism - with the combination of chanting a rhythmic phrase (Nembutsu or Odaimoku) and/or sutra recitation to a visual object (a scroll of Amida or a Gohonzon). This is a more active form of meditation as compared to the silent form (see below for that). So I decided to create a nonsectarian alternative in that vein. One practice that I find helpful in the vein of the Way of Oneness (the realization of interdependence) is to chant “Be One, Be Peace” in a position of gassho (palms together in front of chest with fingers pointing upward - a traditional gesture of respect) to an object such as a Dharma Wheel or a drawing of enso (a circle) as used in Zen. Five minutes of this every morning before work does wonders for my blood pressure and stress level.

You are more than welcome to use the chant if you think you may find it possibly useful.

I use two forms: “Be One. Be Peace.” for those who prefer a four syllable “mantra” like “Namandabu.” Or “Be One. Be Love. Be Peace.” for those who prefer the pace of a six syllable “mantra” like “Nam(u) Myo-ho Ren-Ge Kyo” or “Na-Mu A-Mi-da Butsu.” People who like (or are drawn) to chant are attracted to the rhythm.

For me, the purpose of any practice is to encourage self-reflection, internalizing this awareness , and wonder/gratitude/awareness of the interdependent forces of the Universe (Dharmakaya - in Shin this is symbolized as Amida Buddha which allows practitioners to perceive these forces as “compassionate” and “caring” thus allowing us to relate to them easier, or as the Gohonzon in Nichiren Buddhism which is a calligraphic representation of the “Ceremony in the Air” from the Lotus Sutra which is also a representation of the interdependent forces of the Universe).

There are a couple of simple techniques for silent meditation as well. You do not have to sit on the floor. You can sit with erect back on a chair. Many people say try for 15 minutes twice a day. I say start with a simpler goal - 5 minutes twice per day. The benefits include stress management and relaxation benefits which help the body, increased mindfulness and focus, and increased energy. The mindfulness can be a benefit to your spiritual life, but meditation also has ';non-spiritual'; benefits. Here are two easy techniques:

Breathing meditation - 1) Check posture. 2) Close your eyes and relax. 3) Focus on your breath entering and leaving your body. 4) Count breaths mentally one to four. Repeat. 5) Don't fight a wandering mind, but calmly direct it back to task. 6) Sit for a minute afterwards.

';Mantra'; technique (choose a personal ';calm'; word or phrase that you will repeat in your meditation - it can be from your religion or something as simple as ';one'; or ';calm'; – I use the nonsectarian “Be One. Be Peace” or “Be One. Be Love. Be Peace.”) - 1) and 2) as above in the Breathing meditation. 3) Listen to your breathing and let it relax you with each breath. 4) Once you are relaxed, mentally ';hear'; your ';calm'; word or phrase in your mind. Let it repeat in your mind. 5) Don't fight a wandering mind, but calmly direct it back to task. 6) Sit for a minute afterwards.

That is all there is to these very simple but beneficial meditation techniques. Many people think that something ';mystical'; should happen during meditation. Most often ';nothing'; happens and ';nothing'; should be expected.

Oh yes, and it didn't cost me anything to learn nor were there any ';initiations'; involved.

Some good resources on ';secular'; meditation are ';The Calm Technique'; by Paul Wilson as well as ';The Relaxation Response'; by Herbert Benson. If you need more formal ';assistance'; or ';training'; then I would look into Natural Stress Relief which was founded by former Transcendental Meditation instructors upset at the rising cost and ongoing superstition associated with TM. They charge $47 for their training compared with the $2,500 that TM would charge you.

Also look at these websites on Buddhism on the nonsectarian Bright Dawn teachings which have a heritage of Shin and Zen Buddhism:

You are wise to keep looking for new ideas that work. Meditation has traditional leaders and what they know is never written in the books. You must have a question to meditate about. It must have an answer of yes or no . Then you will have to develop a method of discerning the yes or no from your ancestors. They are there to help you . Only your ancestors care about you. Once you have mastered this type of meditaion I promise you a new life.
when you meditate, focus on one word and repeat it in your mind. like ';love';, ';joy';, ';peace'; etc... if thoughts come in, just return to that word.
I have fallen asleep too. The best trick for me is to have my eyes half open.
Check out fhu.com. They have a meditation you can download for free that does not involve a ';mantra'; and it's the only valid one.
Look into Transcendental Meditation. It's my understanding that you MUST get with a guru to get your own personal mantra assigned to you. Not just any will do. Don't ask me why that is, or if it's even true. All I know is, it works!

Pssst, I hate to be the bringer of bad news but ';free legal'; is an oxymoron. One way or another you're gong to have to pay.
they always say ';DON'T MESS WITH TEXAS!'; And they do mean just that. you can't win with the car dealers. Listen to me and listen to me real good. Save money, buy a car that gets you around and then pay cash for a car after you save enough money.

This will cover your entire family under one plan.
The previous comment about legal aid is a good first step. If they do not help you, many lawyers will give you a free initial consultation. If that does not work, you may have to educate yourself and represent yourself. Unfortunately, hiring a lawyer to handle this case may cost you more than you will owe on the vehicle. Generally speaking though, you cannot return a car just because you did not like it or because you didn't receive a copy of the papers that you signed. If you signed the papers, you are legally bound to pay for the vehicle absent some other reason.

Is there a place I can get personal exercise advice for free?

I am starting to work out and am currently doing the tredmill for 30 mins a day 5 days a week doing from 1.5-2 miles everytime. What else can I do? My main concern is to lose wait but I also want to build muscles. What other machines or exercise can I do to lose weight? Should I lose weight first and then build up muscles since muscles weigh more than fat?Is there a place I can get personal exercise advice for free?
You will lose weight and build muscle mass at the same time. But if you build more muscle mass first you'll gain weight instead of losing it but that's okay, because muscle weighs more then fat. So that means you are losing fat and building muscle.

1.5 to 2 miles in 30 minutes on the treadmill isn't bad. If you want to lose weight faster walk on a higher incline on the treadmill. Yes, it will slow you down, but don't worry. Walking up hill is proven to burn 45% more calories then walking on a straight path.

If your main concern is to lose weight stay with the treadmill and gradually increase the incline until you get into better shape. As for the free exercises there are tons of free shows on TV. But I heard of this new thing, Combat Aerobics! I haven't found a class in my area yet, but look for something like that.

And if you work out hard enough on an inclined treadmill you shouldn't have to change your diet that much. But if all you eat is take out, then SLOWLY switch to healthier eating habits otherwise it won't stick. So change one or two things week. And the first thing to change is your water intake. If you over do it you鈥檒l be peeing all over the place everyday. So gradually increase that as well.

There is tons of free exercise info on the Internet. I'd STAY AWAY from those ';trial memberships'; at gyms they pressure you so much to join. At first they treat you like a king but once you join you're just another overweight person to them. Use your money to buy equipment you can use at home. So Google whatever area you want to work on and you'll find it.

    Good Luck

  • Do you get more medical advice from the kids' pedi than your primary care?

I rarely call either, my mother in law is an MA so I just call her.

BTW, we've missed you terribly!Do you get more medical advice from the kids' pedi than your primary care?
No. However I used to. I used to have crappy insurance and my doctor really was a quack. Now that I have more expensive but better coverage I have an amazing doctor and a great pediatrician for my kids (he's actually my husband and brother-in-law's pedi from then they where kids)Do you get more medical advice from the kids' pedi than your primary care?
My daughter's ped refused to give me a medical opinion if I was sick and I can't find the time to make an appt for myself. Since we have a PPO, we go to Urgent Care instead. No appt needed, wait times are 1/2 as short, and they have peds and gp's so we can be seen at the same time.
My primary care physician is also Johnny's doctor. He's a family doc. :)

I have a court summons for non payment of CSA,should I get legal advice?

I need to know If I should get legal advice before going to court over non payment of child support?I have a court summons for non payment of CSA,should I get legal advice?
At the very least you should consult one, violation of CSA is serious.I have a court summons for non payment of CSA,should I get legal advice?
It is always best to get legal advice if you can afford it. But if you cannot, try going down to your local court house, they usually offer a free service help center. They provide information, paperwork, limited advice. They can be very helpful, just if you go prepare to spend at least 3 hours there. They should have a program that will figure out how much you actually owe. But what ever you do, do not ignore the summons, or they could make a decision without you there and your absence is like a consent (saying yes). Then all of a sudden you find money missing from your paycheck and it might be a lot more than you would ordinarily have taken. But really, if you can afford a lawyer, pay your support, its your child being hurt by your actions.
There are usually a few things that happen before being summoned into court, such as suspension of your drivers license. Once it has gone to the court, I would advise getting an attorney. The judge is not going to go easy on you for violating a court order.
yes, try free legal clinic's if money is the issue also if you lost your job bring proof with you to court.

How ever you should have been paying something they are your kids.

Is there an on-line location where I can get some legal advice concerning a real-estate issue?

I am about to lose my house on a land-contract agreement and I need to know what my rights are!Is there an on-line location where I can get some legal advice concerning a real-estate issue?
You MUST consult a lawyer NOW.Is there an on-line location where I can get some legal advice concerning a real-estate issue?
If you have not paid your land contract agreement as agreed in the contract, you can legally face foreclosure. There is not a great deal of difference between a land contract purchase and that with a conventional mortgage. In either case, you can lose the property for failure to comply with the contract. With land contracts, you generally forfeit any and all ownership in the property when the owner forecloses, as well as loss of any 'equity' you think you may have gained during the contract.

You can probably save this deal if you pay up in full immediately.
Hiring a lawyer for minor legal problems can be expensive, but there are websites like LawGuru, FindLaw and other places where you can get free legal advice. I found this website useful - http://www.uelp.org/freelegal.html
RE law varies by area, so you would have to find a site that has correct information for your city, state, country - what have you.

Your best course of action is consult with an attorney.

Where can I get career advice from?

I'm in uk and most of the places like pertemps don't help. Where can I get career advice. I have left uni.Where can I get career advice from?
You do not give information about the subject matter. What you were studying. The best place in the UK is either your uni adviser if you can go back there for information,or they have officers at the Job centres especially trained for that purpose. You can arrange a personal interview at most of them, and you will find them a great help.

I wish you good luck in your search.

  • I have appointment tomorrow in my halifax branch to discuss investing an inheritance - will I get good advice?

    LOL

    sure, very impartial

Don't be surprised if they suggest you invest it all in their products or products from which they make a commission.

I suggest you have a look at this web page before you go

    EDIT

Also avoid Independent Finacial Advisers (otherwise known as insurance salesmen) like the plague. They are only interested in their commission.I have appointment tomorrow in my halifax branch to discuss investing an inheritance - will I get good advice?
The Halifax is legally obliged to give good advice. However, since they sell investment products they will not be impartial. I suggest you do two things for yourself: 1. be very sure about your attitude to risk, before you go, or at least before you sign anything. Good investment requires a committment of between 5 %26amp; 10 years to mature. Also, make clear to HBOS your risk attitude up front. 2. seek another advisor (preferably independent) as a cross check and do nothing in a hurry! Good luck.I have appointment tomorrow in my halifax branch to discuss investing an inheritance - will I get good advice?
You will get good advice and they will suggest that you invest in their products. Listen and learn from them but do not commit. Then make an appointment with the Bradford and Bingley adviser. They will give completely impartial advice and give you sound advice. They do not charge for this but they will get a commission from the products that you finally settle on. They are duty bound to tell you this and tell you the amount of commission they make.
    Don't even go there!

I know someone that went to the Alliance %26amp; Leicester for advice and put over 拢100,000 in a 5 year bond....all was going well until 6 weeks before maturity it was found to have been a risk to capital bond when it was specifically asked for a no risk investment. Luckily evidence is in place in this case to show that we asked for a no risk to capital.

My advice is to put the max allowed into an ISA every year then put the rest into a high rate internet savings account.

DO NOT under any circumstances invest with a high street bank on their advice. Go with your own research.
just remember these so called financial advisors are looking out for htemselves first and then you...so they will suggest products tht give them the biggest commission...

what i suggest you do is if you dont know anything about investing..buy a book on investing..what you want to do is educate yourself on a variety of products:

    mutual funds

    stocks

    annuities

    etc.

personally i got some inheritance and didnt know ANYTHING about investing..so what I did was I wnet on the webpages of different banks to see what products they offered...i went through the mutual fund list and i saw that a few of htem provided income every month..and i also saw what htey invested in...so i put my money in mutual fund and had a decent amt of extra income coming in every month and i kept it there for 3 years. Now i moved onto stocks...i wish i went into stocks during the time i was in mutual funds cuz the market was doing awesome but thts the past..now im leanring about stocks...so just start off wiht what ur comfortable wiht...hwen you go to the advisor..just go in ther thinking tht ur gonna learn some new vocabulary terms..so i would take a notebook and pencil with u and jot down the idfferent things she/he mentions-and then go home and do your own research on it....
I agree with the first answer. Another company to look at is Chelsea/Norwich Union. I split my investment between the two, both are doing reasonably well .Check out several financial advisors , the advice is usually free and you are under no obligation.
NO. If it is areasonable sum (拢100000+) then go see a few stockbrokers. You can get some names from APCIMS or maybe Securities Institute.

By all means see what Halifax have to say but it will mostly be Halifax bonds and fairly un-adventurous.
Banks and insurance companies are traditionally poor places to get investment products.
Speak with an IFA. Will give you impartial advice.
Yes But It Will Be Bias .....

My Advise Will Be Shop Around In Many Different Places!

Anyone got any advice for my Texans to help them get better next year?

The Arman Greene thing isnt going to happen and that is a big must have RB ..what do you think.? and should they get the help they need through the draft of what..who should they get?Anyone got any advice for my Texans to help them get better next year?
im also a texan go texans.well i think we need to draft a rb it be cool if mcfadden drops i doubt it i think we should draft jonathan stewart or steve slaton or we can wait till third round and maybe felix jones or mike hart will drop.this offseason we need one more offenseive linemen our d-line is preety desent though our secondary is weak at the saftey position i think dunta robinson and bennet will be great at cb position we also need anothe reciever on the other side of andre maybe jacoby jones can step up.well the biggest thing is the rb in all our history we have never had the explosive rb who can take it to the house on every play.there was a rumor that we were interested in getting michael turner from chargersAnyone got any advice for my Texans to help them get better next year?
Mr. green just got injured. how can you say it's not working out. give him another year. green did the same thing in Seattle. what the Texans need is a better group of up front people. what that means is better linemen. both on offense and defense. they also need to get better looking cheerleaders. (ha ha)
There is a rumor going around that Roy Williams (the receiver wants out of Detroit). Him being a native Texan, and loving his homeland, he might show interest in Houston. If the Texans could pull him in, that passing attack would be stellar with Williams and Johnson starting, and a speedster like Andre Davis in the slot.

Other needs would be a FS, and some LBs to go with DeMeco Ryans, and likely a RB. There's plenty of talent out there at RB this year, whether you want to bring in a guy like Michael Turner, or draft someone.
draft a saftey or a cornerback. try and make a trade to get shaun alexander. use a second or third round draft pick on an offensive tackle. keep andre johnson healthy.
    defense
    1. keep schwab healthy

    2. keep andre davis and andre johnson healthy

    3. draft rashard mendenhall in the draft out of illinois

he is the best rb avaible when houston picks

    4. Mario williams keeps on getting those sacks

he might turn out the be better than reggie even tho everyone comlained about picking him
Sorry to say, but I knew Green wasn't going to do much for the Texans. He was sitting on the side lines majority of the time for GB and fumbled the ball Way too much. I think they need to work on getting a better RB and Defense. They could also fix up on their special teams. Texans actually did better then I thought they would. But with out a solid D, it's doesn't win enough games.
They could possibly trade up in the draft with Miami to get Darren McFadden. I also think that they need to get Dunta Robinson some help in the secondary. But I do agree with the guy above me who said that Mendanhall would be a good choice if they didn't trade up

Why do some people think Yahoo Answers is a bad place to get advice?

Okay some people are stupid and just waste peoples time. But there are quite a few who do give good advice. Often you can see bad answers and some good advice when you ask a question. So why do some people not like it here? Why do some people think Yahoo Answers is a bad place to get advice?
Of course it is a bad place to get advice. Because some people run for POINTS.Why do some people think Yahoo Answers is a bad place to get advice?
maybe it is asking advice from complete strangers. Or maybe it is the recieving bad advice, along with the good, and not knowing how to ';take what you can, and leave the rest.'; In other words, even bad advice might be helpful, in some way (you know what not to do, for example). Many people don't think that way, and thusly think that because there is so much bad advice, there is nothing to be gained from it. Not true.
Garbage questions made garbage answers, don't blame others.
YOU SOOOO ARE RIGHT SOME PEOPLE GIVE YOU LAME ANSWERS JUST FOR POINTS!!!
You can't please all of the people all of the time. I am sure that Yahoo Answers better serves some types of users (and questions) than others. Every great online application has its detracters and many people are open to criticize, however poorly formed thier opinion may be.
I have no idea why they do not like it here. I try to give a good answer no matter the question but i think it is those that want the points and are in the points race that make this not fun! The points do nothing but give u more questions to answer. I do try to find questions i think i can give a good answer to.

    Have a great day!! :-)
five fingers of our hand is not of equal size.

so different people has different opinion.;-$
people seem to forget how easy it is to lie over the Internet and the supposed great advice you are getting about your court case or health problem can be given by a 14 yr old girl or a 40 yr man chain smoking in his mothers basement.

this is a free sight that is for enjoyment purposes trying to answers life questions on here can be silly and dangerous. people need to remember that when they log on to here. remember though that you always have the choice to skip questions you don't like and skip over answers you don't like
In my opinion, some people believe whatever they read on line is the absolute truth. So they take the advice from a stranger and if it does not work out they blame that person who answered their question.

The average person knows that the Internet is full of millions of people from all walks of life and they are not the ones to ask for their final answer to any question. You could be led down a path of no return...if you are on line to joke around and have fun that is something else but if you are here to find a serious answer for a health problem that would be taking a big chance if you thought the answer was correct and followed their response. In the end reading all the answers you have to be the judge and jury....read each answer and weigh each one most of the time common sense will tell you if it's a smart or stupid answer. It's a great place to be entertained and learn something on occasion.
    Helllloo

    Interresting notice u hv there!

I'm with u! U sometimes receive some really lame answers on questions u really take seriously. But about 70 to 80 % of the time, advices n answers are really useful, n personally, they help me alot solving my issues. It's a really nice thing, just sharing things with people u dnt know.
Because people aren't qualified to give advice. If I ask whether I should kill myself, some people will say yes, and others will give some retardate soundbite about it all being worthwhile.

People answer for the sake of finding some purpose in their dreary and unfulfilled lives, like me, for example. But clearly, three quarters of the posts are terrible advice, and most of the people on here are too dumb to tell the good from the bad.
It can vary greatly. The answers can depend on the question asked, or sometimes, people on here are just messing around. If you ask a questions, you will get a mix of both smart and sarcastic answers...so if you are serious about a questions, nine times out of ten you can weed out the good ones from the people playing around.

Can anyone tell me where I can get some instructions / advice on building my own sunroom?

I'm thinking of enclosing my deck to make it into a sunroom, using old patio doors. I'd like to find some advice on this from someone who has tried it. Any suggestions? Can anyone tell me where I can get some instructions / advice on building my own sunroom?
Check either DIY.Com or HGTV.Com. I saw a show about just that project on one of those channels.

    Try hgtv.com or diy.com

I am thinking about putting mosquito netting on mine but as a use of curtains; where I can enclose the whole entire porch and when I want it to be opened up tie back the curtains, etc...
Take a look at http://buildyourownsunroom.ca/. It describes in detail what you're talking about.
You know we could help you right here if you were a little more specific in what you want to do.

Where in the UK can I get parenting advice for my 8 year old.?

She is as good as gold for her childminder and at school but turns into the child from hell at home, I have tried reward charts grounding, naughty step, taking things away E.T.C but nothing helps, the health visitors seem to lose interest when children turn 5.Where in the UK can I get parenting advice for my 8 year old.?
I know, you don't see them for dust once the child is at school. I wonder if she feels overly tired when she comes home and starts to play up. You say she's at school and at a childminders. It is a long day for children and she may be over stimulated there which leads to tiredness and tantrums at home. Does she go to the childminders after school? If so, is there any way she can have quiet time whilst she is there - a bit of colouring by herself, a nice read or even a short 15 minute nap? If there are a lot of other children or pets or computer games, something like that, she could be getting worn out after being at school all day too.

Maybe if it is not possible at the childminders, could she not have something similar as a routine when she gets home? She could perhaps read to you whilst you're getting dinner ready. If it becomes part of her routine she may calm down as she will be expecting it.

Perhaps she is vying for your attention and bad attention for being naughty is better than no attention at all. She is not with you all day and then when you come home there are all sorts of other tasks that you have to get on with so she may be feeling left out or ignored and so acts in a naughty way to get some form of attention from you. Why not set aside half an hour as soon as you get in to have a little drink, a cuddle and discuss what she has been up to all day. You could listen intently, nodding at the appropriate points and ask questions. She would revel in the amount of undivided attention you are giving her. I know that there are a hundred and one other things you should be doing but spending half an hour intensively with her each evening will save 3 hours later on telling her off or coaxing her or whatever.

You say that you have tried the naughty step etc. This is a really good idea. The trouble is, as with most things, in order to see any results, you have to really persevere and continue the procedure each and every time you feel an infringement has occurred which is time consuming and boring but the second you think, 'Oh, I'll let that go. I really can't be asked to fight tonight', all of your previous hard work goes out the window and you have to start all over again.

Perhaps try the above and then revert back to the naughty step if it fails. I am sure the carrot and stick approach definitely does work if you carry on long enough.Where in the UK can I get parenting advice for my 8 year old.?
Where I live the local primary schools pool together with the YMCA and have different courses for free including parenting advice. You`d already know through newsletters from Your daughters school, but if not call YMCA.It`s a government initiative thing so it`s no doubt national.Perhaps Your daughter is just trying to get Your attention, and gets it by being bad,and just wants to spend time with You.
    Parentline plus are very good.

http://www.parentlineplus.org.uk/ and has sections that you can find guidance under or you can call them and speak to someone......
you could always call your doc. sounds harsh but they normally keep lists of help line, grups and other such things. They may have something to help you. or i did just think the Library ...? dont know they might
The best parenting advice you can get is by listening to your own instincts. You say you have tried all those methods, that seems to suggest that your not being consistent.Pick one method your comfortable with and stick to it. If you are constantly changing the rules for your child how can you expect them to know which rules your using! I know it can be very difficult and frustrating but things will get easier. Rewards charts always worked for my daughter, she used to be a terror but now she's an angel! Just trust your instincts and go with them, you sound like a great mum, so believe in your self and stick to your guns. It takes time but you'll get there. Just make sure you have a good friend you can chat to on those days when you feel like screaming! good luck hun x x
if shes at school and a chidminders , shes probably craving your attention ( not knocking you at all , we all need to work ) do you spend time with her when you are at home , try getting her to help you in making tea , as a working mum we have jobs at home to do when we get home too just try involving her with what you have to do . try saying if you just help me do this i will get it done quicker and then we will sit and read or have a chat or play with a toy .
I took all my daughters toys out of her room so all she had was her bed and clothes.Every time she was good she got an item back...it worked!!! Have you a famliy resource centre nearby that you can get help from either that or go to your doctors and demand help or for them to refer her to someone
try going to your GP and they will refer you to a councillor
here is a little bit of golden parenting advice for you. Don't ask for good parenting advice here. Zack S is a good example of why you shouldn't
The BBC Parenting site is meant to be very good - here you go:

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/parenting/

I think there are forums where you can chat to other parents which is often a really good way of getting advice.
have you watched little angels or house of tiny tearwaways. my sister turned into a terror at about that age and they have an attitude that they think is cool. this is due to waht they have seen around them. instead of showing her positive attention from this simply try ignoring it and show her lots of attention when she does something small. it works a treat. also it she is trying to wind you up or be naughty try changing what she is doing such as saying 'oh quick come an look at this rabbit' when she gets there say oh no its hidding, look for it maybe it is watching you and seeing if you are helping mummy??'

    i hope this works

  • I want to get fit, any advice on how to start running?

I will join the gym soon, but until then I want to do some running - how many times a week should I run, and what is a good routine to get started? I would also like to know what excercises I can do in the house. Thanks.I want to get fit, any advice on how to start running?
    AWOL,

Congratulations on your decision. I have been running for about ten years now, and I've never done any single thing that has done me so much good. I think that you will find that it's a lot of work that eventually becomes very satisfying.

But you'll have to get to that point carefully, which means slowly. To do otherwise is to risk an injury that will sideline you for long enough to discourage you. Don't do that. Instead, let your body tell you how much you should do, and don't drive it. ';No pain, no gain'; is silly, and ';Pain is just weakness leaving the body'; is fine for motivating Marine recruits but not for real life. Pain means that something is wrong. Pay attention to it.

Better still, keep from it. Here's how:

    1. Buy yourself a good pair of running shoes.

Start by finding out what kind of shoe you need. Shoes come in three basic kinds, depending on the amount of pronation you experience. Pronation is the way your foot ';rolls'; from the outside of the heel where it strikes the ground to the big toe at push-off. The height of your arch is the greatest determinant of your pronation.

So, after your next shower of bath, put one wet foot on a piece of brown paper and then remove it. Look at the outline of your foot. If it shows two large spots only, with maybe a hint of outside edge, you have high arches. If it shows a typical foot outline, you have average arches, and if it shows a kind of indented oval, you have low arches, maybe even flat feet.

High arches need what is called a ';neutral'; shoe.

Average arches need a ';stability'; shoe.

Low arches need a ';motion control'; shoe.

Once you find out what kind of shoe you need, go out and find the brand of that kind that fits you best. Check out running stores, Runner's World magazine, anything that you can before you buy shoes. It's worth taking your time to find the right one.

I'm very partial to Asics and Reeboks. The Asics Gel Kayano series is extremely well spoken of, though at $135 it can be a bit pricey. The GT-2111, however, is about $90 and is a very good shoe. I like it for its fit, cushion, and smooth transition between heel and toe. I find it very easy to run in.

The Reebok Road Lite series is also very good.

But find the one that fits you and feels best to you.

Once you've done that, make sure that you have the right clothes to run in. You don't need expensive technical (that's the synthetic stuff that weighs next to nothing and wicks perspiration away really quickly) clothing to start with. Eventually, yes, but not right now. Just have enough to keep warm in the cold. Don't forget gloves. It sounds funny, but it's next to impossible to have a good run with cold hands.

OK, now you're ready to start running.

Rule One: Go slow. Remember, this is for your health, not for a race. The greatest danger to beginners (ask me) is impatience. We try to go too fast too soon. Don't. You have time, so go slow. When I started running I couldn't run even a mile. I jogged 3/4 of a mile and walked the last 1/4 mile. I did that for as long as I needed to. Eventually I ran a mile.

Rule Two: increase your speed or distance by no more than 10% per week. No more. It doesn't have to be 10%, but it must be no more than that. And never, ever increase both at the same time. that will injure you.

Rule Three: Go to Runner's World Magazine and find a training schedule for beginners. This is the kind of training to aim for. You don't have to do exactly what it says, but it's a good choice to start with and to work toward. Run three days a week to start with until you're up to four miles each run. This should take you about 10 weeks, maybe 12. The time isn't important, really. Just know that it will take you longer than you might think it should, and be patient with yourself.

Then drop back to three miles four times a week and work your way up again. By the time you get there you'll be ready to go farther.

I can remember the first time I ran three miles. I was utterly exhausted and wasn't sure I could get out of the shower to do anything but sleep. But in a couple of days I was ready to do it again, and did, and wasn't quite so tired afterward.

I kept it up and kept going farther. I remember wondering if today would be the day that I would run five miles, and several times I had to answer that ';no'; after my run. But I kept it up and one day, I ran five miles. I had a minor clelbration at that.

Now I run 20-30 miles a week and feel great. I'm almost ready for a half-marathon, and I'm training for one this year. Eventually my plan is a marathon. Or two.

I've had my share of minor injuries, mostly tendonitis, and almost always from running long and sometimes hard, and then working around the house too hard--running up and down stairs, working on new flooring, kneeling, getting up, kneeling, getting up, and putting such a strain on my legs that they got a bit angry at me, and my iliotibial band (a really thick tendon that runs from the outside of the hip down the leg to the knee) got really sore. I had to lay off running for a few weeks. It wasn't worth it. If I'm going to do something that takes a lot of kneeling--working on the suspension or brakes of one of our cars ( I have a '74 Beetle that takes some maintenance)--then I don't run until I'm done wit the job. If that means that I don't run that day, then I don't run. I can run tomorrow. But if I'm injured, then I can't run at all for too long.

If you want exercises to do before you go running, do mostly stretching exercises, but be careful with that. Those who are injured most often are those who are least flexible and most flexible. There really aren't a whole lot of house exercises that you can do to prepare you for runningl You can make your legs a bit stronger with squats (but never bend your knees beyond 90 degrees or you'll ruin them) and plyometrics, but I wouldn't do plyometrics before you've run for a while. Nothing beats getting in shape for running like running. So I'd do that. Slowly at first, but that's what I'd do. Go carefully, taking care of yourself. You're going to need those legs for a long time yet.

So, take care of your legs and feet and your running will go well.

Increase your running slowly and your running will go well.

Good luck.I want to get fit, any advice on how to start running?
If you have never ran before i dont think you should suddenly start running ,start power walking first ,work your way up to running, always do some stretching exercises before you start ,then when you start running do it for 5 mins then work your way up. you can buy a mini trampoline,a skipping rope even running up and down the stairs, putting music on and just going for it,make it fun and you will start feeling great about yourself ,go for it.
run three times a week for 30min. tops and you could do some jumping jacks, cruches
if you have a stair case in your home go up and down it
Jumprope is awesome. I began running by picking a 3 mile route and then running just a little of it and working up to the whole thing. It took about 4 weeks. I exercised at least 4 times a week. Since then I've added jumprope and weights. Jumprope 100 reps at a time, recover and do it again. This gets your lungs in shape. Also, running in place, getting your knees up for 1 minute or as long as your able then recovering and doing it again. In between these reps of jumprope and running in place, you could do squats or sit against the wall, add pushups and other things. Stairs were mentioned and this is great as well. Good luck!
Just 1 step at a time mate, 1 step at a time.
I'd start with a fast walk for the first few weeks, bout 3-4 times a week for an hour, just to build up stamina. Then switch between jogging and walking until ur ready for full-blown runs. That's how I started and it's helping a lot with my fitness. Wear comfy shoes and don't push yourself to hard, thats how alot of people cause serious injuries. Not sure bout indoor excercises except sit-ups and squats. Best of luck, hope that helps!

Can I get some advice about gelding a stud horse?

should I have my stud gelded?

he's a registered 4 yr old dun qh. I can't really handle him other than a little grooming and petting. what does gelding cost and do I take him to the vet, or does the vet come out to the farm? I have only had him for a month and have made a little progress with him. how will it change him?Can I get some advice about gelding a stud horse?
Unless he is exceptional and really worth breeding from then please do get him gelded. Apart from anything else he will be able to enjoy a much nicer life being turned out with other horses. Geld him soon. It should calm him down a lot, some horses it is almost immediate and with others it takes a while for the testosterone levels to drop. I guess you are in the USA so I don't know what happens there but in Europe the vet will castrate at your premises. Sometimes they just dope the horse and do it standing and other vets put the horse right out. There are pros and cons for both methods. Make sure that you hose him down every day afterwards to relieve swelling and keep him clean while he heals. Good luck with that! But also remember he is only a 4 year old and his behaviour may just be typically coltish and with handling and work he will grow out of a lot of it.Can I get some advice about gelding a stud horse?
With the glut of horses in this world almost all stallions need to be gelded. Only the very best should be breeding. Weanlings that used to bring $10,000 are bringing $5,000 or less and colts that used to sell for $500 or so can't be given away. Please have your boy gelded. He'll be happier and you'll be happier and you'll keep some babies off of the ground and out of the slaughter house.

It's a little harder on older horses to be gelded so it's sometimes a bit more expensive. Cost depends on where you live and your vet. My good vet costs me about $300 or so. The local vet is cheaper but not so good with the animals is about $150.

Personally I think that gelding your stallion will change your perception of him more than anything. It will make him happier and a bit calmer. The vet should come to your place. Try finding some help with handling him if you can. I really recommend books and dvds by Leslie Desmond. She has a website as well. Try getting the book, True Horsemanship Through Feel by Bill Dorrance and Leslie Desmond.
My vet comes to the farm and charges $100. Unless you want to breed him, you should definitely geld him. You can never trust a Stallion. It could take up to 18 months for the testosterone to leave his system. Once that happens, he should become a calmer horse. Some geldings never lose that Stud attitude though. I have a 7 year old former stallion that I gelded at 4. He still acts somewhat like a stallion. He bosses the other geldings and young stallions. We put him in with the mares and he ran them. He is better to take out by himself and isn't always trying to run back to his mares or calling to them. Geld him.
Yes yes yes, get him gelded. He will only get harder to handle. Very few horses are good enough quality to be a stud for breeding. And not everyone is qualified to handle a stud.

It should calm him down a bit and to less confrontational.

Here, you can do either, take your horse to the vet or have the vet out.

It's about $75.00 give or take in this area.
YES!!! Get him gelded. Depending on where you live the vet will come out to the farm, geld him and present you with a bill for around $200.00 including the trip fee. It is worth every single penny especially since you cannot enjoy him now. He will soon calm down and be much easier to handle. He will still need to learn his manners and sending him to a qualified trainer would probably help. Having him gelded will allow him to focus better though.

    Good luck with him.
if you do want to still have some offspring depending on his bloodlines i guess but you could deffinetly get some sperm frozen before gelding him but yes geld him soon!!! or he will stick to his habits and it will help a huge amount aswell!!

hes a dun to lovely colour would be nice to see if he could pass that colour to his off spring!! you could always get the sperm and sell it to a stud aswell..
get him gelded if ur not instrested in breeding him

it will carm him down although after he may still act liek a stallion porbley for a cuple of years but it will disapeer slowly

u can ride him and all that just as long as he has been trained propley etc

and u go to the vet altough some vets ared difrent better to go in
Yes you should geld him. The vet should come out to your farm. Stallions should only be handled by qualified professionals. If you don't know stallions you could get hurt. You will enjoy him much better once he is gelded.
If you are going to do it do it soon. Horses that are gelded to late never get out of some of the habits of Stallions.
If your stallion is not superior to average of the breed, GELD him. It's safer for you both and happier.
    Geld him.

If price is a big factor, I would stick with AMD CPU and atleast 512mb Ram or 1GB ram. If you get one with lower ram say 256mb or 512mb you can easily upgrade it for around $40-$75 for the extra ram. 512mb should do for the start though then I would upgrade it later on..ThanksCan I get some advice on choosing a desktop pc?

I am in a bad situation with my ex and my soon to be child (due in a month). Everyone advises me to get a lawer, but I can't afford one. I can barely afford gas, food, and shelter. How do I go about getting legal advice/representation without money? How can you get free legal advice?
Check with the bar association for your state. Many times it will list attorneys willing to work pro bono or for a sliding fee. Also check womens advocacy groups as they will sometimes have attorneys available or be able to help with those expenses. How can you get free legal advice?
All attorneys do a certain amount of work ';pro bono'; or without charging. Most states have free legal assistance available to those who can't pay. If you need such in your area, call up any lawyer in the phone book, and ask who provides such services in your area. They'll tell you free of charge where you can get such services.
You didn't say what kind of bad situation you are in. There are hot lines for abuse located in the phone book. Go to your local Church, or any bigger church (Catholic Charities, etc.). They can give you help, or at least advise you on what to do or who to call.

Where can a high income earner get solid financial advice?

All - my wife and have a combined annual income of about $275k. I'm trying to get good financial planning information or advice, but it seems like everywhere I look, the system is built for lower income earners, or the super wealthy... we are in an in between category. We are not ';high net worth'; investors, so private money management firms and fee only financial planners aren't an option.

We don't have any credit card debt, our cars are paid for, we have a modest mortgage relative to our income, and a lot of excess cash flow. While I know that this is a good problem to have, I'm not confident that I know where I should be putting the extra cash.

Are there any books or resources geared towards upper-middle income people?Where can a high income earner get solid financial advice?
If I were you (and I almost am) - I would start with some basic financial advising books. If you have already done this - then you should move to the next level but if not:

Buy ';The Only Investment Guide You'll Ever Need'; by Andrew Tobias. He also has a website.

Go to ';Bob Brinker's Money Talk'; website and look at the books he suggests.

Listen to Bob Brinker's ';Money Talk'; radio program found in many radio markets.

Bob Brinker suggests and recommends that people can and should become their own financial advisors.

His radio show on Saturday and Sunday evenings can be a bit hard for beginners - give it several weeks before you either give up listening or before you become hooked.

Contact Mutual Fund companies like Vanguard and Fidelity which are lower to no fee and low management fee account mutual fund companies.

personaz1@hotmail.comWhere can a high income earner get solid financial advice?
I just came across this website that gives some great advice on financial issues: http://www.hansoverturf.com. Check it out, I know it helped me.
First, I would read the books recommended above. Even if you have the world's greatest financial advisor, you still need to have an understanding of markets and financial planning.

You should also get a financial plan prepared by someone who charges a fee to do it, even though you said it's not an option. Heck, we got one when our income was a fraction of yours. We paid about $500 to get a financial plan prepared and we had no further obligation to the planner. With that plan, and the knowledge I picked up by doing my own reading, we implemented the plan on our own using Vanguard mutual funds. Please understand that getting a financial plan done could be the best money you've ever spent. You can't afford NOT to do it. I know it was probably the best money I ever spent as it got us started on a solid foundation and it has paid off tremendously.

The reason none of us can (or should) tell you what to do with your money is we don't know what a good planner will learn from you and use to craft a plan for your needs... what are your investment goals? What is your tolerance for risk? Your tax situation? All these things and others are relevant to what your plan should address.

You can pay for a plan, learn some on your own, and then follow the plan without having to pay ongoing fees. I think you'll be very happy down the road if you get a plan now.
Pay off the mortgage. Put the rest in tax-exempt bonds and an index fund.
There are plenty of books but that isn't what you need. You can go to several places and find good Financial Advisors, I do this but I do it for businesses on a part time basis, I retired a number of years ago. Just a few hints, first you should both be putting as much into 401k plans at work as possible to defer taxes on your income. The max is around $15,000 each this year I think, haven't look at it but it's around that. With your income level, you should be considered potential high net worth individuals to financial advisors who will at least meet with you and give you leads to go other places or maybe even discount their service to you. Worse case, just open an online account with Ameritrade or another service and put your excess funds into any of the recommended mutual funds, over time you can expect good growth.
I wish i had your problem buddy! I have a friend whos a financial consultant. he works for charles schawab or something. I just give my 5% to him. he's a good friend. call one of those.
There are a lot of ';experts'; out there who just want a big chunk of your money without providing any really useful strategy or information.

I'm a banker with an MBA, so it's probably easier for me to spot charlatans than the average person. I'd recommend reading a couple of books by Ray Lucia. His first book is called ';Buckets of Money';. There are lots of people with seminars and books on securities, real estate, trusts, insurance, etc. But I swear - this guy is the real deal: he addresses a multitude of factors, doesn't give bogus information, doesn't unnecessarily complicate matters, and is very adept at addressing an individual's particular circumstance. He has a syndicated radio show that he does with a tax attorney and one other guy. You could probably attend one of his free seminars around the country - and these aren't just sales pitches for other seminars.

I think you could get a lot out just reading this guy's books - he generally gives advice to people like you, who are already making good money but need advice on how to manage it properly. Check out the website below - good luck.
Go to a professional financial planner. You can find them in your yellow pages or likely get some reccomendations within your workplace.
If you're looking for a financial adviser, I'd recommend checking out the Paladin Registry, as a way to find one. I've used it and am very happy with their process. It is free, and they provide a bunch of independent resources on what to look for in a good financial planner.

    Good luck.

I have done lots of scripts on word. The following are three formats you can use.

    NUMBER 1

    HARRY: (tab) HI, bob.

(***italicised or in brackets:) He waves to BOB.

    BOB: (tab) He-lloooooooo, Harry!

    NUMBER 2

    HARRY (Centered)

    Hi, Bob!

(***Italicised or in brackets:) He waves at BOB.

    BOB (Centered)

    Helllooooooooooooooo, Harry!

    NUMBER THREE:

    Harry (in Bold, Centered)

    Hi, Bob!

(***Italicised or in brackets:) He waves at BOB.

    Bob (in Bold, Centerd)

    Helloooooooooooooooo, Harry!

*** - Actions, etc. can be alligned right to separate them from the rest of the text.

PS - You can mix and match with any of these formats. If you want, I can send you an example if you e-mail me.IM a TEEN where can i get advice on how to write a script on micrsoft word since i cant afford script software
Mark C rocks my world on this one. I have been a playwright for years and have never purchased script software. You can go through and write your script then get the formatting in line later too.

If you are looking to make a ';killing'; because you have surplus income it is likely you will be cheated someday so be very careful if you hear about ';secrets'; and ';methods'; to outperform the stock market.

Hi. That's what we are for!! Ask away!

My wife and I have an SUV and an outrageous monthly payment due to inequity. Any advice to get out?

My wife and I first purchased a car with a salvage title. After about a year, we needed something bigger, so we decided to look at a Rav-4. After trading in our car for the Rav-4, we were faced with some inequity, but not too bad. Then, after driving the R4 for about a week, we were very unhappy with how it drove and sounded, so we went back to the dealership and asked if we could look at another car.

I guess customer satisfaction was not on their list and they said that even though they still had our freshly signed paperwork, we would have to trade it again. We said no and went to look for something else. Finally, we found a dealership that was very nice and they helped us get rid of the lemon, but now we are faced with an outrageous monthly payment and inequity for the next five to six years.

Please help! We are paying on the loan and the monthly minimum is going down, but it will be years before relief is in sight. Refinancing is out of the question. Any advice? Thanks! My wife and I have an SUV and an outrageous monthly payment due to inequity. Any advice to get out?
You should find a way to continue paying on the car you have. The mess you're in can't be easily corrected in a short time. Meanwhile, I would suggest becoming a little more knowledgeable about buying and financing cars through sites such as Edmunds.com. For example, you'll learn that trading cars and rolling over negative equity is a bad cycle to get into because it's so hard to get out of, as you've now found out. Also spend more time researching and test driving your next car so that you won't want to return it later. My wife and I have an SUV and an outrageous monthly payment due to inequity. Any advice to get out?
This dealership that was ';very nice'; messed up your finances, didn't they? That wasn't very nice.

My advice is to cut your expenses, and save up some money. The only way you can change your vehicle is to take ANOTHER whipping. That must be obvious to you after 3 whippings. It takes money to pay for these whippings, so save up some. I'm assuming you have no money, because if it were possible to improve your situation by paying cash, I'm sure you would have thought of that on your own.

In the future, you may also want to avoid the whippings by not over-borrowing on new cars, or not buying them at all, or leasing, or keeping them until they're worn out.
There is no ';buyer's remorse'; law when it comes to auto sales. I don't know why some people think there is, but there is no law in any state that allows you to cancel an auto contract.

You made some bad choices, you signed the paperwork and agreed to the terms. Ever thought about getting a second job to supplement your income so you can make the payments you agreed to? I know that's not the ';easy'; way out, but you'll feel a lot better about the whole thing knowing you pulled yourself out of a self-created financial hole in an honorable manner.
Buy a lottery ticket, and when that doesn't pan out. Check to see if you have gap insurance on your loan if you do have stolen, by a pro. Gap may not pay off the entire negative equity, but it will help unbury you.
looks like your screwed. you cant r=trade in a car twice and expect to be ahead.

you would be better off if it where stolen so you couls start over. otherwise make payment until you are out from under it.

Any solution you choose to refi is only going to make someone else more money and get you deeper in debt.
First, check if there is a ';buyer's remorse'; law in your state. Just google ';buyers remorse.'; But those laws are very limited, you have only 3-days to return the car.

If there isn't, you don't have many options. Car dealers are in the business of selling cars. The moment you drive the car off the lot you are the legal owner. Even if you go around the block and come right back and say ';I've changed my mind'; they will only give you the depreciated value of the car. Could they just tear up the paperwork and start over? Sure. Would they? Not on your life. The fact that you're already upsidedown on your payment makes matters worse. You owe more on the car the the car is worth.

I'd hate to state the obvious, but you should have done this calculation before signing on the dotted line. Though it can't help you, hopefully anyone else reading this will think long and hard about their financial abilities before embarking on a 5 yr financial commitment.
i highly dought you had a lemon Rav 4 they are very cheeply biuilt and have very poor build quality you probably would not have had any problems with it mechanicly they are pretty reliable car but they are noise have harsh ride and are really porly built. as for the prediciment you are in now there is not much you can do you should have dealt with the rav4 for at least 2 or three years so that you would not have had inequity in it and you may even have had some equity. toyotas hold there value well but no car can be traded in in the first year or two and get what you owe back out of it the initial depreciation when you first buy a car (making it a used car) is huge. Best advise is to keep the current car untill you have paid it off and make sure you are sure about your next car dont be afraid to ask for multiple test drives both in city and highway traffic (some dealerships will even let you take a car for a weekend if they think you are serious) we have taken a few vw home for the weekend and it helps alot we almost bought a bug TDI but after having i for the weekend realized it was too small so we took a jetta TDi for the next weekend and ended up buying that.
    Get a better job.

You're in a bad position, but you put yourself there by making bad decisions. Take it as a lesson learned and try to save up money to pay it off early. On your next car, don't finance under any circumstances. That, and your inability to pick out a good car, is what got you into this predicament.
Unfortunately, what the others have said is correct in that there is no quick or easy way out of the situation you are in. The best thing you could do for yourself is to pay as much as you can as fast as you can, that will limit the overall amount of interest that you will pay in the end and is the only thing that could help you save some of the extra money that this situation will cost you. Look on the bright side...you learned a lesson, a hard one no doubt, but one that will make you more prepared next time you buy a car.

If I get bad legal advice on Answers, can I sue the Yahoo and the poster for legal malpractice?

If my case is messed up because somebody claiming to be an attorney (who probably isn't) told me to do something, shouldn't Yahoo be liable if it inviting people to practice law without a license by not requiring verification of credentials prior to posting in this forum? If I get bad legal advice on Answers, can I sue the Yahoo and the poster for legal malpractice?
Don't take medical advice off of here either, I am warning you ahead of time.If I get bad legal advice on Answers, can I sue the Yahoo and the poster for legal malpractice?
Many give legal advice here. The good attorneys that do put a disclaimer at the end of their answer.

Think about it. If you go in front of a judge who is in a bad mood because stupid people are in front of him whining all day and then you come up....what are you going to explain to him? I got advice from a yahoo answerer and now im going to sue him and yahoo for bad advice? If you ask the questions, take all answers with a grain of salt. You should never take legal advice from anybody unless you are sitting across from them in a law office where their credentials can be seen. You can't take people to court for YOUR stupidity.
If your dumb enough to get your legal information from this forum you get what you deserve. Sue and lose.
Is it reasonable for a person to take legal advice from an anonymous poster on this site is the question?

May have a claim for practicing law without a license on the poster themselves under certain fact patterns
no you can't sue because yahoo has nothing to do with what people say or thier opinions. if you lissen to advise from some guy you meet on the street can you sue him? no because he is nobody, you are the only who did it, so you have to face the consequnses
    Read the disclaimer:

    ';Yahoo! Answers is provided for informational purposes only, and is not a substitute for professional legal advice. Always seek the advice of a qualified attorney licensed in the appropriate jurisdiction before taking any course of action that may affect your legal rights.';
I don't think so. You should never, ever take advice from any sites like these, or over the Internet. If you really want legal advice, go find a reputable lawyer.
    No, for 2 reasons.

    1. You didn't pay for the advice, therefore no contract was formed.

    2. Yahoo doesn't give you advice, they just provide the forum.

The internet is great for preliminary research to find out if you have a case or not, but don't make any important decisions based on what people tell you here unless you're willing to take the risk.
what did you pay for the advice?

You are not getting legal advice here. YOu are getting suggestions about a way to handle a situation.

If you want to consult with a lawyer, get your checkbook and feel free.
No, they're not asking people to practice law, they're just allowing people to give suggetions to you. It's not written in stone that you have to follow that advice and you have not paid for any services from the people who answer your questions. If your case got messed up it's because you didn't do enough homework to research all of your options, or else you had a crummy lawyer in the first place (if you had one). If you didn't, the next time you'll know enough that whenever you go into court you alwyas need a lawyer to represent you.
    lol no!
No one is really practicing law here! You could have actually gotten your advice from a 15 year old jokester! Good grief, hire yourself a lawyer. At least, get out of Q%26amp;A, and go to the library, and learn something.
Oh, no. I see where this question is going. You're not going to trick me.
You can not sue and Yahoo can not be held liable -- it was your choice to use unfounded information.

Kind of interesting that you are a ';top contributor'; in this catagory but you would use information from here to form a legal case ?

Advice to get rid of the lock on the TV and computer?

My parents feel the need to put a physical lock around the TV and computer plugs. It all started when my brother was on the computer for 6 hours every day. I hate the locks. I need real good advice because these are not just normal people I am dealing with.Advice to get rid of the lock on the TV and computer?
They should use the locks on something other than the computers!Advice to get rid of the lock on the TV and computer?
They may not be normal, but they are your parents. When you have kids of your own, you will understand some of the things they do and their reasons for doing them. Babies do not come with instruction manuals, so they improvise and do what they think is best.

I agree, they don't always achieve the best, so with that in mind, sit down and talk to them about the locks. Persuade them to remove them.
You are on the computer now,use the time your parents give you wisely, educate yourself with real knowledge that will get you ahead in life, you might not like it now but I was your age once and so were your parents and don't think we can't remember what is was like to be your age. And remember you can't tell them ''life'' experiences because they have been there and you have not. Wisdom comes with age but smarts and education start when you are young. It has been proven that prolong visual on a computer causes eye strain and vision problems earlier in life and to much time spent on the computer causes a mental instability. (mixing reality with virtual reality and cripples socialization skills and ability) Any adult that knows these facts will agree with your parents on this subject, you should be limited on the amount of time you spend on the computer unless you are doing research for school and can prove it.And with all the ''crap'' that is on tv you shouldn't ''pollute'' your brain wtih it.Read books, join a sport league of choice, skate board, ride bikes, rollerblading and the list goes on and on.
When you grow up you might understand this is for your own good!!!!
We are not going to help you defy your parents

Is there anywhaere I can get free legal advice on child custody laws?

Im getting ready to leave my husband and I want to move with our daughter back to my home state Pennsylvania. Can I legally do that, and how do I get custody of her so that I can? And is there anywhere I can get free legal advice? Is there anywhaere I can get free legal advice on child custody laws?
I am not a lawyer, but will give you this knowledge from my research...

the state WHERE THE CHILD HAS NORMALLY LIVED is the legal state to determine custody. A lawyer is the only person who can define exactly if that is where you now are, or PA. It most likely is where you currently live.

2nd..each state has DIFFERENT LAWS relating to your rights to leave the state with the child and if it violates your husband's rights. YOU could be dealing with parental abduction, if the home state of the child has that law.

Bottom line is that you NEED TO DISCUSS IT WITH A LAWYER before you make any decisions.

Family law is tricky, and no one here can give you specifics as to what is / is not legal for your situation.

Go see a therapist. Talking to them helps a lot. You don't even have to see them for more than once or twice if you don't want to.
Such cases should be reported to police, rather then soliciting advise on net or anywhere else. How can a stranger abuse in the first place that too repeatedly. You should not be timid.Go report upon him and let law take its own course.Any neglect in this regard may invite further trouble for you.So beware and take the help of law.Dont be shy.

I have quite pale skin and have never found the right colour foundation or anything for myself. I also have moderate acne and need to know/find a good brand for products that will hide it but not clog up my pores.

Where should I go (in US) to find help about this? Like a department store in a mall? I'm kinda confused xD

Thanks!Where should I go to get skin product advice?
Any store the sells makeup (cvs, sephora, mac, etc) will give you all the help you need. Just ask a store clerk to get personalized advice.Where should I go to get skin product advice?

What's the best website for a budding poet to express themselves and get feedback and advice?

I've been writing poetry recently and want to both share it with others, and get feedback and advice. It's primarily about love, but may not always be so.

I'd like a free site on which to post that is popular, well designed, and where I'll get quality feedback and advice from other poets/writers.What's the best website for a budding poet to express themselves and get feedback and advice?
